Milwaukee Tech Community is Alive and Well

Have you heard?

There are no shortages of opportunities to get out in the local tech community to learn, share and network.

There are multiple annual events in and around the area that are worth mentioning:

  • That Conference: usually held early August at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. Topics include web, cloud, mobile, agile, professional development, IoT, etc. plus this really cool concept called Open Spaces that allows conference attendees to host their own birds of a feather discussion. This three day event also offers something for the kids too ranging from block programming to robotics, including a visit from a local zoo with some of their favorite animals. And if that's not enough to convince your family, there are family events including a pig roast and exclusive time in the indoor water park just for conference attendees and their families.

  • MkeDotNet: Don't let the name fool you, while it mentions .NET, the conference covers much more... open source, mobile, cloud, React, etc. This event has grown in popularity and was held at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Conference Center in Milwaukee.

  • Milwaukee Code Camp: Last, but definitely not least... hosted in the Engineering and Mathematical Sciences building at UW-Milwaukee, this is a true tech community event. Registration fee is $0, that's right free! Made possible through the combination of UWM, volunteers and sponsors. Again, session topics span the spectrum of tech, soft skills and even a business or entrepreneurial session here and there.

And don't forget about all the monthly meetups too! Whatever your interests are, there's a meetup for it. Some of my local favorites can be found here.

There are lots of other user groups, meetups, etc. available no matter where you live. Checkout Meetup for groups in your area. Explore a little.

It often goes without saying, but the rich community is only made possibly out of the commitment and generosity of the organizers, volunteers and sponsors. Thank you!
